We’re working with a growing veterinary urgent care hospital in San Antonio, Texas that is seeking an experienced Medical Director (DVM) to lead clinical excellence and guide a high-performing team. About the Role

The Medical Director will provide hands-on urgent care while establishing clinical protocols, ensuring high standards of patient care, and fostering a collaborative team environment. This leader will partner with operational support teams to drive hospital performance and patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality urgent care for dogs and cats in a fast-paced setting

  • Establish and uphold medical standards and best practices

  • Mentor and support veterinarians and clinical staff

  • Collaborate with leadership teams across operations, HR, and marketing

  • Promote a positive, team-oriented culture focused on patient and client care


Hospital & Technology

  • Advanced diagnostic tools including digital radiography and ultrasound

Schedule

  • Full-time position

  • Open 7 days a week, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

  • Weekend availability required


Case Variety

The hospital focuses exclusively on urgent care cases, including:

  • Gastrointestinal issues (vomiting, diarrhea)

  • Ear and skin conditions

  • Allergic reactions

  • Eye concerns

  • Toxin ingestion and other acute presentations


Ideal Candidate

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an accredited institution

  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in Texas

  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities

  • Passion for urgent care medicine and patient advocacy

  • Commitment to continuous learning and clinical excellence

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
