Veterinary Surgeon – South East London

We’re working with a well-established, first opinion, 100% small animal practice in South East London that is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon. The practice specialises in dogs, cats, and some rabbits and guinea pigs, providing full surgical and medical services on-site. Facilities include CR radiography, dental radiography, video endoscopy/bronchoscopy, ultrasound, and Idexx analysers. Located in a residential area, the practice enjoys an excellent reputation and is RCVS accredited, with a busy and varied caseload. The practice is also a recognised nurse training centre.

Hours & Location:

• Monday–Friday: 9:00am–6:00pm
• Saturday: 9:00am–12:00pm (rota basis)
• Out-of-hours service provided via local emergency provider
• Role to go between two clinics

Principal Function

The Veterinary Surgeon will provide clinical care in line with professional standards and practice policies, maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat sick and injured animals, including preventative medicine and surgery.
• Deliver exceptional client service and build strong relationships with pet owners.
• Support and lead the veterinary and nursing team, assisting with training and development.
• Contribute to cost-effective practice management alongside senior colleagues.
• Participate in clinical governance, case discussions, and in-house or external CPD.
• Occasionally work sole charge if required.
• Take part in community events and projects as requested (notice provided for weekend activities).

Requirements

• Fully qualified and registered with RCVS.
• Adherence to RCVS Code of Professional Conduct.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a busy, high-volume practice environment (30–40 patients per day).
