About the Role

As Deputy Head Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work closely with the Head Vet to deliver exceptional clinical standards while supporting the development of the veterinary team. You’ll continue to provide outstanding preventative healthcare, medical and surgical care, while mentoring colleagues and contributing to the ongoing success of the practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Vet who is ready to step into a leadership role or an existing clinical leader seeking a new challenge within a supportive and progressive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality first opinion small animal veterinary care
  • Diagnose, treat and manage a varied medical and surgical caseload
  • Perform routine and elective surgical procedures
  • Support and mentor veterinary colleagues
  • Assist the Head Vet with clinical leadership and team development
  • Promote best clinical practices and high standards of patient care
  • Build strong relationships with clients through excellent communication
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the practice

About the Practice

You’ll be joining a spacious, purpose-built veterinary practice equipped with modern facilities and advanced diagnostic technology, including:

  • 9 consultation rooms
  • 4 fully equipped operating theatres
  • Dedicated dental suite
  • Ultrasound suite
  • Advanced CT imaging suite with a 128-slice CT scanner
  • Separate dog and cat wards
  • Dedicated preparation areas

The practice has a collaborative multidisciplinary team, with many colleagues pursuing postgraduate certificates and clinical interests. Continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development are actively encouraged.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • MRCVS registration and the right to work as a Veterinary Surgeon in the UK
  • At least 3 years’ UK small animal GP experience
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for mentoring and developing others
  • Confidence managing a varied first-opinion caseload
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to clinical excellence
