Experienced Veterinary Surgeon for an independent hospital based in Downham Market, Norfolk

We are currently working with a Veterinary hospital located South of Kings Lynn, Norfolk, that is seeking an experienced small animal Vet to join their team.

The practice is happy to consider all levels of experience, and this role would suit someone with an interest in Cardiology, ophthalmology, medicine or imaging.

The practice

The hospital is a small, family operated and owned Veterinary hospital located just outside Downham Market in West Norfolk.

They currently have around 13000 patients and are open 24 hours a day. All routine consultations are booked into 20-minute time slots and 40 minutes for pretty much everything else. The team ethos is built around, tribe. The team protect, support, nurture and care for each other.

Theatre days are pure theatre days. Protected time for study is truly, protected. The clinic shuts for an hour each day so you can eat lunch. You will never know what you bill each month or have it used against you. Your mental health is taken seriously with internal and external support mechanisms in place from day one of employment. Onsite facilities include: Digital X Ray, Full in House Lab, Endoscopy (Key Hole Surgery) and a Full set of scopes, CT Scanner, Dental X Ray, Ultrasound, Specialist Orthopaedic Surgery Kit, Two Sterile, Theatres, Dental Theatre Large & Spacious Cat and Dog Wards, Isolation Unit. ECG. And Full Patient Monitoring Equipment.

Between the two sites, there are currently 16 Vet Surgeons, 31 Nurses and a talented support function.

The role

The practice is looking for an experienced small animal Vet to join their team. They are looking for disciplines in Cardiology, ophthalmology, medicine, imaging so if you have an interest in any of these areas, the hospital would like to speak to you.

This role is to go between the main hospital and their second practice based in Kings Lynn.

The role is to work 4 days per week, the core shift is 8:30am – 5:30pm. The early shift is 7:30am – 4:30pm and late 10am – 7pm.

The weekend rota is currently 1 in 5 weekends between the hours of either 7am – 5:30pm or 8:30am – 7pm. With the Friday before and Monday after off.

The Vets also work nights currently once every 9 weeks. Nights are Monday – Sunday 7pm – 7am followed by a week off for recovery. Vets that work the night rota are paid an additional £5,000 per annum.

Benefits include

Salary is dependent on experience, £40k – £75k.

Holiday is 28 days, inclusive of bank holidays. They offer additional holiday based on length of service.

CPD is uncapped, if a vet would like to study a cert, this will be supported
