Medical Director – Small Animal Practice | Aurora, Colorado (Southeast Denver Metro Area)

We’re working with a long-established, full-service companion animal hospital in Aurora, Colorado that is seeking a Medical Director to lead its clinical team while continuing to practice high-quality veterinary medicine. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who wants both clinical autonomy and the ability to shape medical standards within a well-supported, collaborative hospital environment.

This respected general practice has been serving pets and families across Aurora, Centennial, and the Southeast Denver metro area since 1981. The hospital provides comprehensive care for dogs and cats in a modern, well-equipped facility designed to support both wellness and sick patient care.

Clinical capabilities include:

• Digital radiography
• In-house laboratory diagnostics
• Dentistry services
• Soft tissue surgery
• Ultrasound imaging
• Fear-free handling techniques when appropriate

Leadership Role

As Medical Director, this position blends hands-on clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, including:

• Strengthening client communication and patient care outcomes
• Supporting a positive, team-focused hospital culture

The role provides the autonomy of practice ownership while being supported by centralized operational, HR, marketing, and administrative resources.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Hospital hours:
  • Monday, Thursday, Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday: 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Caseload

• Small animal practice (dogs and cats)
• Combination of wellness care and sick visits
• Opportunity to maintain and expand clinical interests within general practice

Ideal Candidate

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an accredited institution
• Licensed in Colorado, or eligible for licensure
• Strong background in small animal medicine and surgery
• Demonstrated or emerging leadership ability
• Excellent communication and team-building skills
• Commitment to high-quality, ethical veterinary care
• Passion for mentorship and continuous learning

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary range: $120,000 – $150,000+ (based on experience and credentials)
