We’re working with a well-established full-service small animal veterinary hospital in Austin, Texas that is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian to lead its clinical team while continuing to practice high-quality medicine.

The Practice

This full-service companion animal practice provides comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats, managing a varied caseload of wellness, preventative, and medical cases.

Facilities and services include:
• Digital radiography
• Ultrasound
• In-house laboratory diagnostics
• Routine soft tissue surgery
• Modern general practice veterinary equipment
• Fear Free handling techniques where possible

The Role

The Medical Director will combine clinical responsibilities with leadership and strategic oversight of the hospital’s medical direction.

Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering high-quality veterinary care and surgical services
• Leading and mentoring veterinary associates and support staff
• Establishing and maintaining medical standards and clinical protocols
• Supporting hospital growth and operational performance
• Promoting a positive and collaborative team culture
• Participating in clinical governance and case discussions

This role offers the opportunity to practice medicine with autonomy similar to practice ownership, without financial risk, while benefiting from strong operational, HR, marketing, and administrative support.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Hospital hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 6:00pm
  • Saturday: 8:00am – 2:00pm
    • Rotating Saturdays required

Candidate Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent
• Eligible for veterinary licensure in Texas
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Commitment to high clinical standards and ethical veterinary practice
• Interest in mentoring and team development
