Senior exotics Veterinary Nurse role for one of the largest Exotics hospitals in Hong Kong

Are you and RVN or qualified Nurse based in Asia, or are you currently overseas and wanting to combine work and travel?

I’m currently working with one of the largest exotics hospitals in Asia, that is seeking a qualified Veterinary Nurse to complement their team.

The practice

This gold standard hospital is 50% small animal and 50% exotics which includes a dedicated exotics department where they see a lot of referrals.

Facilities include: 16-slice CT, digital radiography, various sizes flexible and rigid Storz endoscopes, ultrasound, echocardiography, laparoscopic surgery, ultrasound, cryosurgery, IDEXX lab suite/Abaxis machines, IM3 dental x-rays, dedicated hot and cool wards, and specialized canine, feline and exotic ICU units.

You will join a friendly team of 11 vets including 4 exotic certificate holders. The hospital prides themselves in providing their vets with more support staff than the average clinic: each vet has a team of two Vet Nurses assigned, to assist them throughout the day with all aspects of clinical work, including translation (English is the official language of the Hospital). The night vets take care of canine, feline and exotic emergencies with their dedicated team of Nurses and Vet Techs.

The role

This is a hands-on exotics Nursing role, and you will join a large team of assistants, comprising of Veterinary Nurses and RVNs, Veterinary assistants, Animal care assistants and kennel assistants.

This is an exotics Nurse role, which will also include training and mentorship.

As the hospital has a dedicated night team, this is a day role only.

To qualify for this role, you must be a qualified Veterinary Nurse or certified technician.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Team player, striving for gold standard of care
• Knowledge of exotic species is desirable but not essential
• English is the official language of the hospital, knowledge of Cantonese is not required

In return, the hospital is offering a competitive salary of up to $35000 HKD per month.

• Additional HK$1000 Motivational Allowance per month – after the 3-month probation period
• Flight allowance from the UK to Hong Kong;

• 33 days’ total leave: 20 days of annual leave + 13 days of statutory holiday (same as Bank holidays);
• CPD leave with generous allowance of HK$ 10,000;
• Support to study for the Advanced Diploma in Exotic Veterinary Nursing (UK course) – diploma fees paid by the clinic
• Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme (pension) subject to the provisions of the Mandatory Provident Schemes Ordinance;
