We are working with a Veterinary hospital based in Windsor, that is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly, supportive and independent practice.
The practice
You will join a progressive team of 7 vets, including two certificate holders and will be fully supported by an excellent team of 11 nurses, together with an experienced team of receptionists and admin staff.
Facilities include: Surgical suite, separate cat and dog wards, in-house laboratory, Electrocardiography and doppler ultrasound, X-ray and full digital processing facilities and orthopaedic equipment.
The practice has been established in the local area for over 120 years. As well as their fully equipped hospital, they also have two consultation only branch surgeries in the local area.
The role
The practice is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated first opinion vet to join the team in delivering the highest quality of care to their clients and patients. The ideal candidate will be confident consulting, performing first opinion surgical procedures, performing diagnostic investigations, dentistry, work ups and providing dedicated inpatient care.
You will be working across all three branches but will be mainly based in the Windsor Hospital where the surgical and hospitalisation facilities are situated. The clinic also has a resident nurse on site 24 hours a day.
- Full Time – 4 days per week (Part-time roles would be considered but would include weekend as detailed below)
- Start 8.30am unless on ops, then 8am.
- Finish time depends on rota, between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on standard days
- No overnight on-call, once a week late finish until 9pm (1pm start on these days)
- Shared weekend rota, 1 weekend in 5 – consults on Sat and Sun morning and on-call until 5pm
- Monday and Friday off following duty weekend
- No Sole charge
- Driving Licence and car are required but business mileage is reimbursed
Key responsibilities:
- To perform consultation and medical treatment of animals
- To undertake surgical operations (including neutering and general surgery)
- To undertake, on a roster basis, emergency and out of hours qualified veterinary
cover - Maintain clinical notes and keep clients updated regarding the pets treatment and
any laboratory results - Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality and
personal appearance - Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety
- Where possible, promote special offers, nurse clinics and other relevant practice
news to clients - To supervise support staff and direct and advise accordingly
- To have a continued commercial awareness and manage clients expectations with
detailed estimates and regular updates - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the
general public - To handle and support other staff in relation to general client enquiries
- To undertake continued professional development associated with the role in
accordance with the RCVS guidelines - Other occasional duties at the discretion of the practice manager or practice
principal
