Veterinary Surgeon – Kowloon, Hong Kong

We are currently working with a state-of-the-art Veterinary hospital, who after undergoing a comprehensive upgrade this year, will begin offering 24-hour care, so is looking to hire a Veterinary surgeon to support this service.

This role is to work a mixture of days and nights.

The practice

The group was founded in 2013 with a mission to provide comprehensive animal healthcare services. Their offerings include routine veterinary clinics, 24-hour emergency animal hospitals, pet grooming, an online platform for pet supplies shopping, and veterinarian-approved freshly prepared pet meals, all designed to fully support the needs of both pet owners and their furry companions. With three animal hospitals under their umbrella, they offer a wide range of services, including traditional Chinese and Western medical treatments, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and nursing care. Their main hospital underwent a comprehensive upgrade in 2024, emerging as one of the few fully equipped animal hospitals in Hong Kong. It features a physical therapy centre and collaborates with the surgical centres of the other two hospitals. Moreover, they have an in-house research team dedicated to utilizing technology, data, and veterinary knowledge to enhance the quality of life for pets.

The role

This role is to work a mixture of days and nights. The proposed work pattern is to work 1 month of days and one month of nights consisting of.

Nights: 3 on 4 off, 4 on, 3 off.

Days: 4 days per week.

Responsibilities:

• Provide critical care and emergency veterinary services during night shifts
• Conduct thorough examinations and assessments of emergency cases
• Administer treatments and medications as directed by veterinary protocols
• Perform emergency surgeries as needed
• Collaborate with the night shift medical team for efficient patient management
• Monitor and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and handovers to the next shift team

Job Requirements:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
• Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Hong Kong
• Experience in emergency and critical care is preferred but not required
• Strong diagnostic and surgical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work night shifts and be on call as needed
• Compassionate and dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
